Mara Jenkins is Director, Consulting Services, at The Wicks Group Consulting (TWG). Mara draws on more than 13 years of experience working for the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to manage many of the firm’s FAA IASA technical assistance and other consulting projects. As a member of the TWG leadership team, Mara also participates in the formation and execution of firm business development strategies and staff development.

Prior to joining TWG, Mara served as the Chief of Staff for the Office of Aerospace Medicine at the FAA, with responsibility for running the Executive Office for the Federal Air Surgeon and the Deputy Federal Air Surgeon. Prior to that, Mara served as a Special Technical Assistant to the FAA Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, managing legislative and technical affairs for the Associate Administrator. Her federal career at the FAA also included work in the Flight Standards Service and the Office of Accident Investigation and Prevention.

Mara holds a BA in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland as well as professional certificates in project management and international development and conflict management. Mara also has experience in finance and real estate management.

Representative Experience

  • Managing the TWG Aviation Safety Technical Assistance, Phase II Project for the National Civil Aviation Authority of Angola, directed at helping Angola prepare for a US FAA International Aviation Safety Assessment
  • Represented the United States, as a member of the US delegation, to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s 13th Air Navigation Conference in Montreal, Canada, coordinating the drafting and presentation of US Working Papers and Position Papers to ensure and advance aviation safety goals
  • Represented the United States, as a member of the US delegation, to the 43rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (or APEC) Transportation Working Group (TPTWG) Aviation Experts Group (AEG) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, serving as the Secretariat to the AEG Chair
  • Represented the FAA for the FAA International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) of the Republic of the Philippines, capturing the Record of Discussion
  • Managed bilateral meetings on behalf of the FAA with Asia-Pacific States working towards obtaining an FAA IASA Category 1 Rating
  • Served as FAA congressional liaison to Congress, aviation industry groups, and other government organizations, on behalf of the FAA Office of Government and Industry Affairs
  • Managed FAA witness participation in hearings with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation, and the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Aviation Safety, Operations, and Innovation
  • Served as the FAA point of contact for the amendment and signature of a bilateral international agreement between the United States and Canada (Personnel Licensing Agreement)
